WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – As one of the nation's leaders in multiple receiving categories, Purdue Football wide receiver Charlie Jones was added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced additions to the watch list for the award given to college football's best receiver, regardless of position.

Purdue fans can show their support and vote for Jones to win on the Biletnikoff Award FanVote page. Every fan may vote once daily. At the end of fan voting, the finalist with the most votes earns one official vote towards winning the award.

Since making the move to Purdue, Jones has emerged as one of the best receivers in the country. The Iowa transfer ranks second nationally in receptions per game (9.4) and receiving touchdowns (7), while ranking third in receiving yards (588). He leads the Big Ten in all three categories. With 47 receptions, Charlie Jones is the only Big Ten receiver since 2000 to haul in 45 or more passes in the first five games of the year.

The Boilermakers have a history with the Biletnikoff Award. Taylor Stubblefield won the honor in 2004, while David Bell was a finalist just one season ago. The duo became consensus All-Americans, and Jones is on pace to put up better numbers than both. Jones joined Stubblefield as the only receivers from the Big Ten to record seven touchdown catches in the first four games of a season.

It's safe to say Jones enjoys the Purdue offense. After making 21 catches for 323 yards and three touchdowns during the entire 2021 season with the Hawkeyes, it only took him three games as a Boilermaker to surpass last year's totals. In his Purdue debut, Jones caught 12 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown against Penn State. One week later, he tallied nine receptions for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Jones kept the streak of 100-yard games going, making 11 catches for a career-high 188 yards with one touchdown at Syracuse. With his start to the season, he became the eighth Boilermaker in program history to record three straight 100-yard receiving games.

Semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award will be announced Nov. 21, with three finalists selected one week later. The winner of the award will be announced Thursday, Dec. 8 on ESPN as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards Show.

Any player (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, running back, etc.) who catches a pass is eligible for the Biletnikoff Award. First presented in 1994, the Biletnikoff Award is named after College Football and Pro Football Hall of Famer Fred Biletnikoff. Before becoming the Raiders' all-time leading receiver, Biletnikoff was an All-American at Florida State.

Jones and the Boilermakers return to the road Saturday (Oct. 8), facing Maryland in a cross-divisional Big Ten matchup. Kickoff is set for noon on Big Ten Network.
