WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Purdue men's golf team begins its spring season in search of a Big Ten Championship when it heads to the Sunshine State for the 2015 Big Ten Match Play Championship. Action will begin at Sunday morning with first-round action at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla.

Purdue, the No. 8 seed, will begin play at 7:30 AM (ET) with a first-round matchup against ninth-seeded Michigan State. The winner will move into the championship-round bracket for a matchup with No. 1 seeded and the nation's No. 1-ranked team, Illinois, for a noon match at the Conservatory Course.

This marks the seventh straight year that Purdue has started its spring season at the Big Ten Match Play Championship. In the previous six appearances, Purdue has posted a 9-11-0 record. Last year's finals appearance was the Boilermakers' first in event history.

The event will be held at the highly-regarded Hammock Beach Resort, which houses two courses - the Ocean Course and Conservatory Course. Located on the Atlantic Ocean, the championship bracket will be played out on Hammock Beach Resort's Conservatory Course, which has been featured in Golfweek's top-40 "Best Tour Courses You Can Play" on three separate occasions. Alternatively, teams placed in the round-robin and consolation bracket matches will compete on Hammock Beach Resort's Ocean Course, another well-renowned course that was named to Golfweek's 2013 top-10 courses to play in Florida.

Purdue is just 4-7-0 this year against Big Ten opposition. The Boilermakers have yet to see Michigan State yet during the 2014-15 season.

The Big Ten Network (BTN) will broadcast the 2015 Big Ten Match Play Championship via tape delay on Sunday, March 15 at 1:30 p.m. ET.
